Hernandez To Play Basketball At Bottineau

Zirahuen Hernandez has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Dakota College for Bottineau Ladyjacks during the 2013-14 school year. She is the daughter of Bev and Curt Azure of Wolf Point and Armando and Alicia Hernandez of Powell, Wyo.
She is a 5’5” guard and played her high school basketball for the Wolf Point Wolves. As a high school senior, she averaged 7.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. She shot 45 percent on her two-point field goal attempts and 29 percent from the three-point line. She lettered three years in basketball and was selected to the All-Conference team in 2013.
Coach Wayne Johnson’s commented, “The Ladyjacks are very pleased to have added Zirahuen to our 2013 roster. We believe she will fit in well with what we like to do. She is a strong guard who can get to the paint and make things happen. She shoots the ball well from beyond the three-point arc and we need those types of players to stretch the defense. Zirahuen is a hard worker with a great attitude. She consistently has been on the Wolf Point honor roll and displays the qualities we look for in a student/athlete. We expect Zirahuen to be a contributor to the Ladyjacks success in the upcoming seasons.”
