Lady Wolves Play Tennis In The Cold

Friday, April 12, the Lady Wolves traveled to Williston, N.D., to play the Coyotes. The Wolves played a bit short-handed due to music commitments.
In singles, senior Zirahuen Hernandez went 1-1, sophomore Ky’anna Broesder went 0-2 and senior Presley Anketell went 0-2.
In doubles, seniors Ashley Parsley and Alyssa Hoversland went 2-0 and sophomores Kendra Lands-rud and Octavia Belcher-Reum went 1-1.
Saturday, the full team traveled to Baker for a triangular with Baker and Forsyth. The team was successful, winning with a 12-10 record.
In singles, junior Carry Vandall went 1-1, losing 5-8 and winning 8-6. Sophomore Erin Presser went 0-2, losing 3-10 and 3-8. Broesder went 0-2, losing 6-8 and 6-8. Junior Kymree Flynn went 1-1, winning 10-4 and losing 3-6. Sophomore Thea Smith lost 5-10. Freshman Kristen Horsmon lost 2-8. Belcher-Reum lost 5-8. Landsrud won 8-2. Sophomore Tyleen Blackcloud won 7-7 (6-4). Anketell won 8-1.
In doubles, Hoversland and Parsley won three matches, 8-6, 8-3, and 6-2. Hernandez and sophomore Sierra Hanks went 1-1 —losing 4-8, winning 8-6. Landsrud and Belcher-Reum won one match 8-0. Horsmon and Smith won a match 8-6 and Horsmon and Blackcloud won a match 6-3.
“The girls are really starting to play better. The veterans are improving daily and helping the new girls with their groundstrokes,” said head coach Dan Horsmon.
“The weather has made it extremely difficult to practice effectively, but we have made due in the gym,” Horsmon continued.
The varsity team members as of now are: Singles, Vandall, No. 1; Presser, No. 2; Broesder, No. 3; and Flynn, No. 4. Doubles – Hoversland/Parsley, No. 1; and Hernandez/Hanks, No. 2
