The Wolf Point Mosquitoes finished the 2014 Babe Ruth baseball season at the Hi-Line District Tournament Friday through Sunday, June 20-22, at Burke Field in Wolf Point.
The six-team, double-elimination tournament included the Mosquitoes and teams from Culbertson, Scobey, Plen-
tywood and two from Glasgow.
Scobey beat Plentywood 13-3 in the championship game for the title.
Wolf Point lost to Glasgow FES 12-6 Friday and to Plentywood 15-5 Saturday, eliminating the Mosquitoes from the tournament.
Wolf Point head coach Bruce Knerr remained optimistic.
“It was a good year. We’re young,” he said, of the team that has mostly 13- and 14-year-old players.
“There’s a lot to teach,” Knerr said.
Four Wolf Point players are 15 years old and will age out of the Babe Ruth program.
“Nine are coming back. The pitching staff will be six deep. I’m expecting a good year next year,” Knerr said.
