Despite no Wolf Point athletes making the top six in any Class B State Track meet events in Butte, Friday and Saturday, May 30 and 31, head coach R.C. Page sees successes.
“Even though we didn’t have any placers, it was nothing to hang our heads about because we have such a young team,” Page said.
“We still set some personal bests at the state track meet and I couldn’t ask for more,” he said.
“We don’t see the South and the West until we get to state,” Page said.
“I think the stage they performed on, the state track meet; everyone was in awe, especially the freshmen,” he said.
“There were so many different kids from so many different schools. It was really an eye opener for the kids,” Page said.
He said his team members believe they can make the top six at state next year.
“The next few years they are going to be on that podium [top six],” Page said.
He noted that the boys’ long relay team, all freshmen, improved their team personal best by five seconds. That team is Brady Babb, Kenny Boos, Owen Lepper and Wesley Weeks.
