The 2014 Poplar High School golf team was comprised of a varied group of individuals.
There was one senior, Devin Sadler, who was coming off a state qualifying season. He participated in six golf meets throughout the season including the divisional meet ,placing 39th. Sadler ended the season with a team low average of 102.5.
Poplar had two junior golfers.
Jacob Mix participated in five meets including the divisional meet, placing 48th and ending with a season average of 119.4.
The other returning golfer was Ethan Three Stars. He joined late in the season and participated in three golf meets and ended with an average of 141.
The team had three first year golfers.
Alex Lone Bear participated in three junior varsity meets and placed first at Plentywood and fourth at Malta. Lone Bear finished the season with a 134 average.
Freshman Jordan Spotted Wolf participated in four junior varsity meets and finished the season with an average of 142.
Lastly, the lone girl, freshman Lyndsey Young, participated in five meets. She placed seventh at Glasgow, 10th at Harlem and 24th at the divisional meet. She finished the season with a 139 average.
“There were several first-year players and with proper practice over the summer I know they will improve, and will be looking forward to the opportunity of trying to qualify for state next season,” Coach Kevin Exstrom said.
