Horsmon, Irizarry Win Culbertson Races

The Culbertson cross country team hosted their annual meet Saturday, Sept. 22, with teams from Plentywood, Poplar, Wolf Point, Frazer, Circle and Culbertson competing.
The following is the results of the Wolf Point cross country team:
In the elementary girls’ race, Wolf Point swept the top three places, led by Journey Erickson, who claimed first place over the 1.5-mile course in 11:17. Finishing second was Paisley Ferdina in 11:54; Cyrenna Standing, third, 11:56; and Alexandrea Sutton, eighth, 17:43.
In the elementary boys’ race, Trey Fourstar led the young Wolves with a first- place finish covering the 1.5-mile distance in 9:54. He was followed by James Poitra, fifth, 11:54; Caleb Blount, eighth, 13:10; and Jerek Summers, 10th, 14:03.
In the junior high girls’ race, Sierra Summers won the individual title in a time of 9:45. Her teammate Gillian Medicine Cloud covered the course in 15:28, placing 12th.
In the varsity girls’ race, Wolf Point's Marissa Irizarry placed second. She covered the three-mile course in 22:25 while teammate Emma Gourneau placed ninth in 26:11.
In the varsity boys’ race, Garrett Horsmon ran strong, placing 10th in 19:02, followed by Layne Nelson in 15th place in 20:40.
The top 10 finishers in each division received medals.
Thursday, Sept. 27, the Wolves will be in Frazer for their annual invitational followed by the Glasgow Invite on Saturday.
