Cross Country competes in Glasgow

The Wolf Point cross country team traveled west to compete in the Glasgow Scotties’ annual invitational. Wolf Point was one of 12 teams who competed in the invite.

 

In the varsity boys’ race, Chance Hyatt from Culbertson/Bainville placed first with a time of 15:52. Wolf Point’s Markell Blount placed 34th with a time of 18:56. Fellow Wolf Point runner Connor McCoy finished 41st in 19:22 while teammate Shaun LeDeau came in 53rd at 20:59.

 

In team competition, Miles City came in first with 55 points, Glendive came in second with 65 and Culbertson/Bainville came in third with 96.

 

In the junior varsity boys’ race, Cody Melbourne and Jeremy Azure had their best performances of the season. Melbourne finished the race in 28:26 while Azure finished in 35:46.

 

In the junior high boys’ race, Williston’s Nevyl Cheudiu placed first with a time of 9:11.17. Wolf Point’s Trey Fourstar finished 14th with a time of 10:04 while Poplar’s Kenneth Smoker placed 17th, clocking in at 10:07.

Aaron Ayers, Poplar, 11:03; 26th, Zander Ackerman, Frazer, 26th, 11:05; 35th, James Line, Wolf Point, 11:33; 37th, Miles Buckles, Poplar, 11:43; 40th, James Poitra, Wolf Point, 11:53; 45th, Leill Red Dog, Poplar, 12:32; 47th, Jaxon Azure, Wolf Point, 12:40; 51st, Demarko Lilley, Wolf Point, 12:54; 52nd, Kaleb Blount, Wolf Point, 12:55; 53rd, Alex Raining Bird, Frazer, 13:08; 54th, Keein Ackerman, Frazer, 13:12; 57th, Brian Eder, Poplar, 13:43; 61st, Darryl Joe, Poplar, 14:34; 64th, Ryker Ackerman, Frazer, [officials did not give time]; 65th, Hunter Raining Bird, Frazer, 20:00; and 67th, John Hotomani, Frazer, 20:07.

 

In the junior high girls’ race, Wolf Point’s Sierra Summers placed first in the event with a time of 9:30.  Her teammates Journey Erickson and Laresa Dale placed seventh and 11th respectively. Both runners had season best times with Erickson coming in at 10:25 and Summers at 10:38.

 

Fellow Wolf Point runner Cyreena Standing finished 20th in 11:18. Her teammates Jaylee Azure and Alex Sutton rounded out the scoring for the Wolves with times of 16:01 and 16:06 to finish 72nd and 73rd respectively. 

 

Poplar's Carlee Longtree finished 5th in 10:20. Ivey Lambert and Riley McDonald, who are also from Poplar placed 8th and 10th in 10:28 and 10:37, respectively.  

 

The cross country teams will next compete at Brockton, Oct. 3 and Harve, Oct. 5.
