Florence Boysun

Florence Marie “Flo” Boysun, 86, of Great Falls, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, at Peace Hospice.
She was born June 15, 1928, in Wolf Point to Anthony and Stella (Vodarski) Heser. She grew up on the family homestead south of town and rode a horse to the one-room schoolhouse at the end of the road. She graduated from Wolf Point High School and later went to Volkman’s Beauty School in Great Falls. After graduating from beauty school, Flo owned and operated Florence’s Beauty Shop in Wolf Point.
She met John Howard Boysun at a dance in Presserville after the conclusion of World War II. They married June 22, 1948, in Wolf Point and lived for a time in Presserville and Wolf Point, eventually making Great Falls their home, where they raised their two sons, Gary and Randy.
She worked as a beautician and also as a cashier in the cafeteria at Valley View School and C.M. Russell High School and at the lunch counter at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls.
Her family was very dear to her, so it was only natural that she found her true calling when her grandchildren were born. For this grandmother of seven, “no” wasn't a word in her vocabulary. She kept the candy drawer as full as her heart and never passed up a chance to make someone feel good about themselves.
She loved flowers of all kinds and took great pride in tending to the petunias, geraniums and roses in their yard. She also enjoyed shopping, a good waltz and traveling.
She was a member of St. Ann’s Cathedral and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed volunteering at St. Luke’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Gary Boysun and Randy Boysun, both of Great Falls; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Her funeral liturgy was held Wednesday, Sept. 10, at St. Ann’s Cathedral.
