Laurie E. BlackHoop, 53, of Poplar, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at her home in Lawton, Okla.
She was born Sept. 11, 1959, to Darlene Longee and Lee BlackHoop Sr. She was one of seven children. She attended school in Poplar.
In 1976, she met Richard Cantrell Sr. of Poplar and to this union three children were born, Nina N. BlackHoop, Richard R. Cantrell Jr. and Billie Jo BlackHoop.
She worked at various jobs in her lifetime.
She enjoyed singing church songs, reading, watching movies, listening to music, visiting her family and friends.
She never turned anyone away, if they needed help or just a talk of encouragement. She loved Jesus and always encouraged her family to pray and lean on him no matter what the situation was.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Brian BlackHoop.
She is survived by her companion of 17 years, Frank Buckles; mother, Darlene Longee of Poplar; father, Lee Paul BlackHoop of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Nina Prichard and Billy Jo BlackHoop, both of Wolf Point; a son, Richard Cantrell of Lawton, Okla.; brothers, Lee BlackHoop Jr. of Great Falls and Rodney Ernest BlackHoop of Poplar; sisters, Liza BlackHoop of Poplar, Tiny Cody of Glendive, Francine of Fort Kipp and Brandy Longee of Poplar; and numerous grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 15, at First Presbyterian Church in Poplar. Burial was at Poplar City Cemetery in Poplar.
