Wilda A. Brown, 81, died Jan. 17, 2013, at her home in Stanfield, Ore.
She was born Dec. 1, 1931, in Wolf Point to parents, Rudolph and Emma Kruemple Hembd. She was raised and attended school in Montana.
She was united in marriage to Cecil E. Brown on Nov. 25, 1948, in Glendive. They moved to Stanfield, Ore., in 1949 where she has lived since. She worked at a turkey processing plant when she first moved to Stanfield. She was a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in Stanfield and Hermiston. She later was a rural route carrier in Stanfield and Echo until she retired in 1988.
She was involved in 4-H, Cub Scouts and the Bluebirds when her children were growing up. She was an avid rock collector, as well as collecting leaves and feathers, and she enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Brown, in 2009; two brothers, Bud and John Hembd; and three sisters, Viola Buechner, Helen Groblebe and Wanda Anderson.
She is survived by her children, Michael Brown of Stanfield, Ore., Peggy E. Burkel of Springfield, Ore., Susan M. Lemmon of Three Mile Canyon, Ore., and Elisa K. Severns of Independence, Ore.; step-son, David L. Brown of Seattle, Wash.; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, at 1 p.m. at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston, Ore. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Stanfield, Ore.
