Daniel Lee, “DJ” (Speed) Renz Jr., 22, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point
He was born July 29, 1990, to Daniel Renz Sr. and Justine Shields in Poplar. He attended schools in Poplar, Malta and Wolf Point. He was a kind and respectful young man. He liked basketball and played for a short time. He also liked to listen to rap music.
At age 17, a tumor was found in his lungs, he went through extensive surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatments, which took a toll on him. Even through all this, he remained cheerful and respectful.
Surviving family members include his parents, Danny and Glenna Renz and Justine and Noel Burshia; brothers, Addison, Ryan, Damon, Anthony and Tyrell; sisters, Lelani, Alayna, Nichole, Kaiyla and Larisa Red Eagle; adoptive mother, Tina Speed; brother, Rodrick Speed; sister, Casey Olson; and grandparents, Barbara and Vic Perry, Donna and Newton Cantrell, Roberta Garfield, Nancy and Albert Foote and Thomas and Kay Shawl.
His funeral service was held Monday, Jan. 14, at the cultural center in Poplar. Interment was at the Poplar City Cemetery in Poplar. Arrangements were entrusted to Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point.
