Miranda Irene Jansen, age 19, was killed in a car accident on icy roads near Wibaux, Mont., on Nov. 9, 2012. She was traveling with her mother and sister to attend a family wedding in Fargo, N.D. Miranda was eight months pregnant with daughter, Elora Dawn Marie, who also died in the accident.
Miranda was born on July 11, 1993, in Billings, Mont., to Martin Jansen and Marie “Toni” Cody Jansen, both originally from Wolf Point, Mont.
One of her proudest moments was graduating from Billings Senior High School in May 2012.
Upon graduation, she started employment with Rocky Mountain Inventory as an inventory specialist where she worked alongside her sister and mother. Miranda was still employed with Rocky Mountain at the time of her death.
She had ambitions of attending Montana State University to study psychology.
Miranda loved to read. She had a contagious smile that spread throughout all her family and friends. She also loved singing jingles heard on the radio and television ads, creating laughter in abundance.
Miranda will be greatly missed by her mother, Toni Cody Jansen of Billings; her father, Martin Jansen of Salt Lake City, Utah; her grandmother and step-grandfather, Barbara and Jim Richard of White Sulphur Springs; brothers, Joseph (Caitlyn) and Jason Schauer of Billings, Nathan Jansen of Tucson, Ariz., and Bryce Jansen of Salt Lake City; sister, Allison Jansen of Salt Lake City; special friend, Tevin Willis; along with 13 aunts and uncles and numerous nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
Miranda was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Leo and Dorothy Cody, her paternal grandfather, Ray Jansen, all of Wolf Point, and an infant uncle, Joseph Todd Cody.
The funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 16, at 1 p.m. at Smith Funeral Chapel, 304 34th St. W., Billings. In lieu of flowers, the Jansen Family Memorial has been set up to assist the family at Wells Fargo Bank. Memorials can be made at any Wells Fargo branch or sent to 175 N. 27th St., Billings, MT 59101.
