Betty Lewellyn Hubbard Albus, 93, of Saco, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at the Hi-Line Retirement Center in Malta.
She was born Dec. 31, 1918, in Poplar, the daughter of Charles A. and Marietta (Bawden) Hubbard, delivered by the country doctor, her uncle. She left school after the 11th grade, in Glasgow, to go to work.
She married Emil J. Albus on Jan. 13, 1940, in Glasgow. After marrying Emil, they lived in various places in the southern states while he was in the service. They moved north of Saco on the farm and she has lived there ever since, until a short stay in the retirement center.
She was an accomplished quilter and also did many other crafts and needlework projects. She also loved following her grandchildren in basketball, physically, and then later by listening to the radio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil; her daughter, Judith Nadine Watson; one grandson; three brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include her children, Jerry Joe Albus of Saco and Sue Marshall of Saco; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service was held on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m. at Saco Lutheran Church in Saco. Burial was at Grandview Cemetery in Saco.
