John “Thunder” Joseph Red Thunder Jr., 42, died Feb. 14, 2014, in Billings.
He was born Dec. 7, 1971, to Linda Red Boy and John Red Thunder Sr. in Poplar.
He grew up in the communities of Poplar and Brockton. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He was a man of many hobbies as he was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed fixing cars, playing Bingo and machines, spending time with his children, grandchildren and various family members and visiting. He was well known for always being there to lend a hand to those who needed it.
Throughout his life, he worked various jobs including firefighting, CSP supervisor, Law Construction, West Electronics and a guard at corrections.
Survivors include a son, Daniel Red Thunder of Poplar; daughters, Jennifer Red Thunder and Jenna Red Thunder, both of Poplar, and Mystical R of Malta; eight grandchildren; sisters, Coleen Devereaux, Grace Devereaux, Johnelle Red Thunder and Jamie Red Thunder, all of Poplar; grandfather, Jim Youpee; brother, Kevin Devereaux; and half-brothers Mith and John Franklin of Standing Rock, N.D.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Eugene Devereaux Jr.; and a sister, Denise Conklin.
A wake will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at the Cultural Center in Brockton. A funeral service will be held 2 at p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Cultural Center in Brockton. Interment will follow at the Riverview Cemetery in Brockton. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point was entrusted with the arrangements.
