Roger Lorne “Porky” Running Bear Sr., 47, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at the Poplar Community Hospital in Poplar.
He was born in Poplar Dec. 8, 1966, to Manuel L. Sr. and Evadna M. Running Bear. He graduated from St. Labre High School in Ashland.
He lived in Fort Kipp for many years and previous years in Bismarck, N.D., Billings, Poplar and Sioux Falls, S.D.
He worked at numerous jobs, his last job was in Bismarck, N.D., on a construction site. He loved working with his son, Little Roger, and his brother, Manuel Running Bear Jr.
He was of Catholic faith and served the Lord in many different ways.
He also enjoyed working on cars, digging roots and carpentry. He collected Mattel collectible cars and loved collecting music. He also enjoyed firefighting and sports, gardening and yardwork.
He was very knowledgeable; he knew how to fix or tried to see how to fix problems.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Sharon J. Running Bear, Kirk, Beverly “Boopsie” Running Bear, Carol F. Running Bear and Camrud L. Black Dog Bear.
He is survived by his companion of 26 years, Ida Mae Black Dog Bear of Fort Kipp; sons, Roger Jr. and Michael Malenowsky of Billings; his mother, Evadna Running Bear of Poplar; brothers, Manuel Running Bear, Narvin Louis, Delberta Rae and Stacy Anna Running Bear, all of Poplar; adopted daughter, Shena Epps of Froid; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar. Interment was at the Chelsea Cemetery in Poplar. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point was entrusted with the arrangements.
