Reuben Duane Black Dog, of Poplar, died Sept. 1, 2012.
He was born to Duane Black Dog and Wilma Longee on Feb. 3, 1979, in Culbertson. He attended school in Poplar until going to Wahpeton Indian School for a while. When he returned to Poplar, he attended Poplar High School, where he met his future wife, Amber Rose Weinberger.
He had a passion for body building and staying fit. He was a perfectionist at everything he did. He was very dedicated to his wife and children, as well as to his job at Tande’s Grocery where he had worked for 15 years. He also worked at TJ’s in Poplar.
He always had a smile and was quite the jokester. He loved making people laugh. He was outgoing, comical, well-liked and well-loved.
He is survived by his wife, Amber Black Dog of Poplar; daughters, Danita, Danyell, Deah, Doreen and Dassani Black Dog of Poplar; son, Reuben Black Dog, Jr. of Poplar; adopted mother, Georgia Gibbs Atkinson of Poplar; sisters, Candice Black Dog, Charla Crazy Bull and Carly Crazy Bull; brothers, Troy Black Dog, Alex Crazy Bull and Aric Crazy Bull; father, Duane Alvin Black Dog; mother, Wilma Longee; and grandmother, Rose Kollmen.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Charles Crazy Bull; and a step-sister, Brandee Crazy Bull.
His funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Poplar Cultural Center in Poplar. Interment was at the Poplar City Cemetery in Poplar. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point was entrusted with the arrangements.
