Kevin Charles Newman, 53, firstborn son of Clifford Cleveland and (Lavita) Mary Newman, died unexpectedly Friday, July 26, 2013, at his home in Frazer.
He taught science at Frazer Public School for the past five years among the people he loved.
He was born Dec. 17, 1959, in St. Louis, Mo. He served in the United States Army for 10 years. After his military career, he graduated from the University of Montana in Missoula. He was completing graduate studies in native plants and developing a computer app to catalog and archive his findings when he died.
He had a brilliant mind and was a lifetime scholar.
He is survived by his children, James Harley Newman, Angelina Marie Newman, of the home, Brandy Dawn Newman of Springfield, Mo., Kevin Charles Newman Jr. of Kansas City, Mo., and Jesse Adam Newman Lisby of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Newman of Hollister, Mo.; two brothers, Keith and Kent Newman; three sisters, Mary Thornton, Joyce Sidfrid and Gaye Lisby; and three grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday, Aug. 4, at the Frazer Community Hall with interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Frazer.
