Leo Daniel “Leo Beans” Martin, 38, of Poplar, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Poplar Community Hospital.
He was born Sept. 7, 1973, in Poplar to Thomas and Ruth (Big Talk) Martin.
He enjoyed being with his step-son, Michael, and being around all of his family and friends. He liked to listen to music, play basketball, hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes and hanging out and swimming at the river with the boys. He enjoyed visiting family at powwows and, in his younger years, was a grass dancer.
He is survived by his step-son, Michael Wayne Loves Him; siblings, Sylvester Martin and Bernice Chaser, both of Poplar; half-sisters, Loretta Martin of Canada and Martha Black Dog of Fort Kipp; and half-brother, Victor Thomas Martin Jr. of Standing Rock.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Albert, Clifford, Jake, Samson and Allen; and sisters, Ethel and Betty.
His funeral service was held Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Poplar Cultural Center in Poplar. Interment was at the Riverside Cemetery in Riverside. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point was entrusted with the arrangements.
