Denise Longtree

Denise Faith Longtree, 43, of Poplar, died Monday, July 15, 2013, at the NEMHS in Poplar.
She was born Feb. 12, 1970, to Vina Mae Greybear Longtree and Roy J. Longtree in Poplar. She attended school at Poplar Public School, Fort Peck Community College and the United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, N.D.

She returned home and started work as a teacher’s aide for Poplar Schools, then later as a cook and bartender at the American Legion Club and a cook at Tribal Express.

She enjoyed playing pool, Bingo and machines and visiting family and friends. She made many friends throughout her life. They will remember her sense of humor, when she would make fun of herself, but wouldn’t get the punch line if told a simple joke. The family started calling her “Duh’nise” as she would finally get the joke a few days later.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Royal Lizotte; a sister, Vonnie Brown; and a brother, Ronnie Brown.

She is survived by her children, Kristen Crow, Deneya and Austin Longree and Darla Crow, all of Poplar; two granddaughters; sister, Valerie Black Dog of Poplar; brothers, Lance Brown of Poplar and Delana Longtree of South Dakota; and grandmothers, Germaine Brady of New Town, N.D., and Delilah Johnson of Connell, Wash.

A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at the cultural center in Poplar. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 19, at the cultural center in Poplar. Interment will follow at the Riverside Presbyterian Cemetery in Riverside.
