County Commissioners Pass Numerous Resolutions, Change Public Meeting Time

The Roosevelt County Commissioners met on Friday, Jan. 4, and passed several resolutions.
The commissioners approved resolution 2013-8 which established the office hours of Roosevelt County would be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the exceptions of Saturdays and Sundays and legal holidays. The only exception is the clerk of district court which will close from noon to 1 p.m. when the office is not fully staffed.
The commissioners approved resolution 2013-9 which outlined how the county had to provide for public participation. In regards to this resolution, the board moved its official weekly public meeting from Friday at 10 a.m. to Thursdays at 9 a.m.
The commissioners went on to approve resolution 2013-10. The resolution established the daily rate for incarceration in 2013 at the Roosevelt County Jail as $50 a day. This amount is the same as last year.
Resolution 2013-11 establishing meal allowances for county employees and elected officials while travelling within the county was passed next. The resolution allots $8 for a morning meal, $9 for a midday meal and $15 for an evening meal. The employee or elected official could receive one of the meal allowances if they travelled during their assigned travel shift. They could receive a maximum of two if the travel time began before the person’s assigned travel shift. The resolution outlined other stipulations as well.
The board concluded by passing resolution 2013-12. The resolution stated the Homeland Security Grant would be providing $61,500, more than the county anticipated originally, so the board needed to increase the revenue account appropriation in expenditures and revenues. The originally appropriation was $35,820, so the resolution increased the appropriation by $25,680 in order to accommodate the extra grant money.
