It’s planning time for the 2014 Roosevelt County Fair. The fair board will soon be heading to Casper, Wyo., to attend the annual Rocky Mountain Association of Fairs convention.
As the planning begins, we reflect back on the 2013 Fair “Putting the Pieces Together.”
It was our first year hosting a rib cook-off and the public loved it. It will be back for the 2014 Fair with a few improvements and, hopefully, twice as many teams. Start putting together your teams and practicing your recipes now, because it’s going to be some fierce competition!
This year’s winners ere $500 first place, Dallas Aero/Independence Bank; $250 second place, B&A Smokers; and $100 third place, Digger’s Ribs.
A weigh-in date for 2014 cattle exhibits will soon be set. If you are not a member of a local 4-H or FFA and would like to show, contact the fair office for information about weigh-in and contract/ear tag dates. Sheep and swine tag and contracts will be available in April.
The board has two board vacancies. If you have an interest in volunteering as part of the Roosevelt County Fair Board, contact the County Commissioners at 653-6246.
