Man Pleads No Contest To Drug Charges, Avoids More Jail Time

A man charged with two drug charges pleaded no contest in 15th Judicial Court Wednesday, March 12, avoiding any further jail time.
Carlos Demetrius Maynard entered his change of plea from not guilty.
He is charged with criminal possession of dangerous drugs, marijuana, second offense, and criminal possession of paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.
The court waived a pre-sentencing investigation, which could take two to three months.
Judge David Cybulski sentenced Maynard to one year incarceration in the Roosevelt County Jail with credit for 203 days served and 162 days suspended for the possession charge and six months imprisonment for the paraphernalia charge with credit for time served for the entire sentence.
