Authorities are saying little about an investigation into a hit-and-run death near Poplar March 1.
The identity of the driver who killed Jessica Burshia, 33, of Poplar apparently remains unknown as a multi-agency investigation continues.
Burshia was struck by an unknown vehicle on BIA Highway 1, about four miles east of Poplar.
Fort Peck Tribal Investigator Kenny Trottier said a passing motorist found Burshia shortly after she was struck. She was deceased at the scene.
“The individual was struck and law enforcement was notified within minutes,” Trottier said.
Tribal law enforcement, the FBI and Montana Highway Patrol are investigating the case.
A phone call to the FBI office in Glasgow was not returned as of presstime Tuesday afternoon.
Help from the public is sought in solving this case. Call the Tribal Criminal Investigations Unit at 768-5332 with any information.
