Cowboys Take Down Froid/Lake Redhawks

Under the Friday night-lights of their first home football game of the season, the Culbertson/Bainville Cowboys walked away with a 50-8 victory over the Froid/Medicine Lake Redhawks.
The Cowboys scored their first touchdown with 10 minutes left in the first quarter and never looked back.
After a two-point conversion by senior Shayne Cochran, the Cowboys took an 8-0 lead.
Senior Evan Willcoxon was the next Cowboy to score on a long run with just under eight minutes left in the first quarter. Quarterback Justin Larsen was successful on a two-point conversion.
Culbertson’s defense sacked Redhawk quarterback Jalen Hendrickson before scoring another touchdown thanks to Larsen.
Junior Colton Zahn added another quarterback sack with five minutes left in the quarter, making the Culbertson cheers that much louder.
Cochran scored one more time in the quarter to put the Cowboys up 30-0.
Senior Sam Casterline brought quarterback Hendrickson down with another sack to start off the second quarter.
Another touchdown by Coch-ran, and two-point conversionby Willcoxon put the Cowboys ahead 38-0.
One more QB sack by junior Rhett Harmon would give the cowboys a total of four sacks in the first half.
Culbertson came out strong in the second half, with a Coch-ran interception just one minute into the third quarter.
Willcoxon would put up another six points for Culbertson, putting the score to 44-0, which kept the game clock running.
Another interception by Larsen with just two minutes to go in the quarter would keep the momentum on Culbertson’s side.
With coach Rob Oelkers mixing in younger players, Willcoxon decided to put on one last show, running the ball almost the entire length of the field where he would put up Cul-bertson’s final six points of the night.
With the clock ticking down, the Redhawks’ junior quarterback Jalen Hendrickson ran in for a long touchdown before Bailey Berntson would catch a pass to tack on another two points for Froid/Medicine Lake.
The Cowboys sit atop the conference with the undefeated Fairview Warriors both at 2-0 in conference and overall play.
The Froid/Medicine Lake Redhawks are 0-2 in conference play and 0-3 overall.
The Redhawks will host St. Labre on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 1 p.m.
Culbertson will be hosting the Wibaux Longhorns for the homecoming game on Friday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m.
